Do you absolutely love Roses?

Mottisfont Abbey's walled garden has been home to the National Collection of old-fashioned roses since the 1970's when world-famous rose expert Graham Stuart Thomas (who has a yellow David Austin rose named after him), re-designed the former kitchen garden at this former Augustinian abbey for the National Trust. Today, the rose garden remains one of the most famous in the world.

June is the best time to visit Mottisfont Gardens (near Romsey in Hampshire), but many cultivars will put on another flush of flowers in the autumn. Check their website for precise details of opening times. And if you love roses, don't miss it!
